Welcome to the Editor's Blog
Welcome to the Editor's Blog at the Johnson's County Gazette. I look forward to sharing local news and information with you.
Welcome to the Publisher's Blog
After a long time of trying to figure out what to do website-wise, the Gazette, through help from our web designer Sarah Humphrey of Foot Forward Design has established its presence on the World Wide Web.
Now, our thousands of area readers will be able to find us on line and also view some previous issues.
We have a coupon page so that you can download the many fabulous valued coupons we have been famous for over the last 35 years.
If there are favorite articles, jokes, or recipes you have wanted to find and reread, send to friends or copy, you will be able to do that.
There will be links to other sites such as well known former Olathe News Editor Chuck Kurtz with his blog, View From The Midwest.
We will welcome you sending us your news items, pictures or even jokes so we can pass them on to others.
We are very grateful to you, our readers who have made this paper possible over the last 35 years. If you have any story ideas that you think would make interesting reading for your fellow Gazette fans, please send us the details.
We have a “Contact Us” place in the website, where you can tell us anything you want. Please feel free to send us your news items. This is what a small hometown newspaper is all about.
Often folks send us event news and we won’t be having a paper again until after it has already occurred. So, if you have something coming up, get the details to us as soon as you can.
One of our editors emeritus, Jim French, who wrote “As I Eye See It” for us for nearly 20 years, said, “A real hometown paper has everyone’s name in it at least once a year.”
We would like to do that but with a population of nearly 140,000 here in Olathe that is going to be pretty difficult.
Nevertheless, if you have something of interest you want mentioned we will do everything we can to get it done.
If you have any difficulty, call me at 913-782-1133. There are always going to be computer and other problems. We will do the best we can to avoid mistakes. Remember, our staff consists of only two semi-full time people, plus contributors.
